Troubleshooting: Microphone No Sound
When video calling or singing via PC, a silent mic is frustrating. Solutions below.
Method 1:
Test mic on another device. If still silent, suspect hardware failure. Check connections/jacks for looseness. Then: Sound Control Panel → Recording → Ensure "Microphone" is enabled.
Method 2:
Sound Control Panel → Recording → Microphone → Properties → Levels → Verify mic volume isn't muted.
Method 3:
Control Panel → Add Hardware → "No, I haven't added this hardware" → Finish. Restart PC.
Method 4:
Control Panel → Speech Recognition → Microphone Setup → Set first mic as default.
Method 5:
Volume Settings → Options → Properties → Select "Realtek HD Audio Input" → Enable all inputs → Check "Microphone" volume.
Method 6:
Enter BIOS (DEL key) → Advanced → Chipset → South Bridge Configuration → Front Panel Select → Change from "HD Audio" to "AC97" → Save (F10) → Restart.
Method 7:
Sound Control Panel → Playback → Speakers → Advanced → Set default format to "Stereo Headphones".
Method 8:
If all fail: Reinstall sound drivers or scan for malware. Seek remote tech support if needed.
